The Flyover Replay.
Tuesday, April 21st, 2026.
Good Morning! On this day in 1789, John Adams became the first Vice President of the United States, serving under President George Washington. Eight years later, he became the second president of the United States from March 4th, 1797, to March 4th, 1801.

Takeoff.
Iran Ceasefire Set to Expire Today.
President Trump on Monday said the ceasefire with Iran is "highly unlikely" to be extended, warning that if it expires Tuesday evening, "then lots of bombs start going off." The two-week truce has held since April 7th, but tensions have escalated sharply in recent days.
The US Navy on Sunday fired on and seized an Iranian-flagged cargo ship, the Touska, in the Gulf of Oman after the vessel ignored six hours of warnings. Iran's military called the seizure "armed piracy" and vowed retaliation, saying Washington violated the ceasefire.
A US delegation led by Vice President JD Vance, envoy Steve Witkoff, and Jared Kushner was heading to Islamabad on Monday for another round of talks, but Iran's foreign ministry said it has no plans to negotiate, accusing the US of lacking seriousness.
Trump told reporters the administration's demand is simple: "No nuclear weapons. Very simple. Iran cannot have a nuclear weapon." No tankers passed through the Strait of Hormuz on Sunday.
Most Common US Surnames Little Changed in Two Centuries.
America’s 15 most common last names continue to be dominated by surnames such as Smith and Johnson, though they've been joined this century by six predominantly Hispanic last names: Garcia, Gonzalez, Hernandez, Lopez, Martinez, and Rodriguez.
Eight English and Welsh-origin surnames—Smith, Johnson, Williams, Brown, Jones, Miller, Davis, and Wilson—have held top-15 spots continuously since the first census in 1790, despite an 84-fold increase in population.
The release also included first-name data for the first time since 1990. The five most common first names, Michael, John, James, David, and Robert, were all traditionally male because men share popular names at roughly twice the rate women do.
Red Lobster's 'Endless Shrimp' Returns Despite Bankruptcy.
Red Lobster on Monday brought back its Endless Shrimp promotion for the first time since the all-you-can-eat shrimp deal helped push the seafood chain into bankruptcy in 2024.
The promotional offer, priced at 25 dollars, returns with five dishes, including a new "Marry Me Shrimp" in tomato cream sauce.
The all-you-can-eat promotion previously cost Red Lobster 11 million dollars in operational losses in just over three months in 2023, contributing to the company's 76 million dollar net loss and eventual Chapter 11 filing that shuttered 130 restaurants.
CEO Damola Adamolekun had initially ruled out bringing it back, joking last year that he knew "how to do math." But he said the company listened to persistent customer demand and restructured the limited-time, dine-in-only offer to work within the business today.

I will repeat the Trivia Question for today: What was the first vegetable grown in space?
And the answer is: Potatoes. In 1995 NASA researchers conducted a landmark experiment in which leaves from a single potato plant were placed into portable growing beds; one set remained on Earth while the other was launched into orbit. The space‑grown samples and their Earth counterparts showed very similar outcomes, demonstrating potatoes’ resilience to the stresses of spaceflight.

8 Children Killed in Louisiana Shooting.
A 31-year-old Army veteran fatally shot eight children, including seven of his own, during a rampage across three Shreveport, Louisiana, homes early Sunday morning. The victims ranged in age from 3 to 11.
Most of the children were shot in the head while they slept. Police said the eighth child appeared to have tried to escape from the back roof of the house before being shot. The gunman also shot the two mothers of his children, each in the head. Both survived, one with life-threatening injuries.
A relative told reporters the gunman and his wife were in the process of separating and were due in court on Monday. The pair had been arguing about the separation when he opened fire.
The gunman fled, carjacked a vehicle, and was shot dead by police in neighboring Bossier City after a chase.
Iran Rejects New Talks, Strait Stays Shut.
Iran on Sunday rejected a second round of peace talks with the United States, citing "excessive demands, unrealistic expectations, constant shifts in stance, repeated contradictions, and the ongoing naval blockade," according to Iran's official state news agency, even as a US delegation prepared to travel to Islamabad on today.
The rejection came after President Trump threatened to destroy every power plant and bridge in Iran if Tehran doesn't accept a deal before the fragile two-week ceasefire expires Wednesday.
Vice President JD Vance, Steve Witkoff, and Jared Kushner are still expected to travel to Pakistan for the talks.
Iran reimposed restrictions on the Strait of Hormuz on Saturday, one day after declaring the waterway open, with merchant vessels reporting gunfire from Iranian gunboats.
Titanic Life Jacket Sells for 906 thousand dollars.
A life jacket worn by a first-class passenger as she escaped the sinking Titanic sold at auction in Devizes, England, on Saturday for 906,000 dollars, nearly double the estimated price.
The cork-filled canvas preserver was worn by Laura Mabel Francatelli, a 31-year-old secretary traveling with fashion designer Lucy Duff Gordon. After the rescue, Francatelli and seven other survivors from Lifeboat Number 1 signed the jacket, which launched with just 12 people on board despite having room for 40.
It was the only life jacket from a Titanic survivor ever offered at auction. A lifeboat seat cushion sold at the same event for 527,000 dollars to the owners of Titanic museums in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, and Branson, Missouri.
The Titanic struck an iceberg on April 14th, 1912, during its maiden voyage from England to New York. About 1,500 of the 2,200 passengers and crew died.

Israel, Lebanon Agree to 10-Day Ceasefire.
The leaders of Israel and Lebanon agreed to a 10-day ceasefire after officials from the two countries met in Washington, President Trump said Thursday. The truce went into effect at 5 pm Eastern Time Thursday.
In a follow-up, Trump added that he will be inviting Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and President Joseph Aoun of Lebanon to the White House “for the first meaningful talks between Israel and Lebanon since 1983, a very long time ago.”
The pause in Israel's nearly seven-week campaign against Hezbollah could unlock stalled US-Iran peace talks. Tehran had demanded an end to Israeli strikes in Lebanon as a precondition for any deal ending Operation Epic Fury.
Meanwhile, the US blockade of Iranian ports remains in full effect. Central Command said 13 vessels have been turned away, and Secretary of War Pete Hegseth warned Iran's new regime to "choose wisely" on reaching a deal.
GOP Finalizing National Privacy Bill.
A House GOP working group led by Energy and Commerce leaders is finalizing a draft national privacy bill that would override state privacy statutes and sharply limit individuals' ability to sue companies, while a Democratic-sponsored alternative quietly moves through committee.
The draft would preempt roughly 20 existing state laws, according to a source. The draft would not allow individuals to sue companies for violating their privacy rights, potentially limiting enforcement to government regulators such as state attorneys general or the Federal Trade Commission.
Democrats are opposed to that national plan, instead supporting a framework that allows people to bring individual lawsuits against companies and that allows states to implement tougher standards.
Separately, Representative Zoe Lofgren (Democrat California) introduced HR 8014, the "Online Privacy Act of 2026," on March 19th. The bill would create a new Digital Privacy Agency to enforce them. It has no bipartisan support so far.
Tom Cruise to Return in New Top Gun Sequel.
Paramount Pictures officially confirmed Thursday that Top Gun 3 is in active development, with Tom Cruise returning as Pete "Maverick" Mitchell and Jerry Bruckheimer reprising his producing role.
The sequel follows 2022's blockbuster Top Gun: Maverick, which grossed roughly 1.5 billion dollars globally and was widely credited with reviving theatrical moviegoing after the pandemic. It earned six Oscar nominations, winning for Best Sound.
Paramount film co-heads Josh Greenstein and Dana Goldberg revealed that a script by Ehren Kruger, who co-wrote Maverick, is well underway. No director has been attached, and a release date has not been set.

I will repeat the Trivia Question for today: Which two American icons are believed to have inspired the name of the Ford Mustang?
And the answer is: The Ford Mustang’s name is widely believed to have been inspired by two symbols: the P-51 Mustang fighter plane and the wild American horse. Designer John Najjar first proposed the name after the World War 2 aircraft, admired for its power and role in securing US air dominance. When executives hesitated, he reframed it around the free-roaming mustang horse, whose untamed, all-American spirit ultimately helped win approval.

The principal, Kirk Moore, was shot in the leg during the confrontation but survived. The video captures Moore charging the suspect from behind and pinning him down on a bench. Another school employee then helped disarm the man.
Victor Hawkins, 20, a former student, has been charged with shooting with intent to kill and other felonies. Investigators say he told them he wanted to carry out an attack modeled on the 1999 Columbine massacre.
Ranking: Where Young Adults Still Live at Home.
A new ranking of which states have the most young adults still living with their parents shows that New Jersey tops the nation, with 44.1 percent of adults ages 18 to 34 still living at home, the highest rate in the country by a wide margin.
High-cost Northeastern and coastal states consistently dominate the top of the rankings, while more affordable states like North Dakota, at just 12.3 percent, fall to the bottom.
Nationally, about one in three young adults now live with their parents, a figure that remains well above historical norms, despite easing slightly from the 2020 pandemic peak.
Rising housing costs continue to delay independence for many young Americans, and experts say this trend now appears structural rather than temporary.

More Expulsions Loom in Congress.
Congress shifted its ethic focus today to two Florida lawmakers in the wake of Monday’s announcements that embattled Reps. Eric Swalwell and Tony Gonzales, both facing sexual misconduct charges, would leave the House.
Next to face possible expulsion from the House over ethics issues are Florida Representatives Sheila Cherfilus-McCormick, a Democrat, and Cory Mills, a Republican.
A House Ethics subcommittee found Cherfilus-McCormick guilty of funneling $5 million in COVID relief funds to her campaign. The panel is set to announce recommended sanctions at an April 21st hearing.
Mills is under ethics investigation on allegations including a variety of misconduct, all of which he denies. His case timeline remains unclear.
New Iran Talks Could Come This Week.
A new round of in-person peace talks between the US and Iran could happen as early as this week, according to sources familiar with the negotiations. Iran's nuclear program and the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz remain the key sticking points.
President Trump told reporters that Iran had called and suggested talks could resume in Pakistan within days. The two-week ceasefire expires April 21st, adding urgency to the diplomatic push.
Meanwhile, the US naval blockade of Iranian ports continued, with Central Command saying no ships made it past in the first 24 hours, and six merchant vessels turned back.
Separately, Israeli and Lebanese ambassadors held their first direct talks since 1993 at the State Department on Tuesday, with Secretary of State Rubio calling it a "historic opportunity" toward ending Hezbollah's influence.
Husband Released in Bahamas Disappearance.
Bahamian police released Michigan man Brian Hooker on Monday without charges after questioning him for days about the disappearance of his wife, Lynette Hooker, during a sailing trip in the Bahamas.
Hooker told authorities his wife fell from an 8-foot dinghy near Elbow Cay on April 4th as the couple headed back to their sailboat. He says she was wearing an engine safety lanyard that shut off the engine when she went overboard, leaving him to paddle to shore for seven hours before reaching a marina and alerting police.
Lynette's daughter has publicly questioned her stepfather's account, calling her mother an experienced swimmer and suggesting the incident was preplanned.
The U.S. Coast Guard has opened a criminal investigation, and Bahamian police say Hooker remains a suspect.

Good Morning! On this day in 1902, James Cash Penney Junior, along with two partners, opened the 25-foot by 40-foot “Golden Rule Store” in the mining town of Kemmerer, Wyoming. Annual sales that year totaled 28,900 dollars for what would later become the national chain of JCPenney stores.
Yesterday, we asked whether Gen Z kids still relying on their parents financially is about the economy or just not being in a rush to leave the nest. One reader, Melissa, had a sharp take: it’s not laziness, she wrote, but a generation that spent formative years focused on screens. “Now, these young adults lack vital skills learned from simple observation over countless formative years.” Thanks to everyone who responded!

Swalwell, Gonzales to Leave Congress.
Two congressmen, Representative Eric Swalwell, Democrat California, and Reppresentative Tony Gonzales, Rep8blican Texas, both announced Monday that they’ll be leaving the House in the wake of misconduct investigations.
Swalwell said Monday that he will resign from Congress following sexual assault allegations from multiple women, accusations that also forced him to abandon his campaign for California governor.
One of Swalwell’s former staffers accused him of having sex with her when she was too intoxicated to consent. Three additional women described misconduct including unsolicited explicit messages and pressuring employees into intimate situations.
Not long after Swalwell’s statement, Gonzales announced that he would retire from the House. He faces an expulsion vote in the coming days stemming in part from his affair with a staffer who later died by suicide.
Under pressure from House GOP leadership, Gonzales ended his campaign for reelection in March after he admitted to the affair.
US Begins Blockade of Iranian Ports.
The US Navy on Monday began blockading Iranian ports and partially blockading the Strait of Hormuz after weekend peace talks in Pakistan collapsed, with Vice President JD Vance saying Iran refused to give up its nuclear ambitions.
Central Command said the blockade would be enforced against all vessels entering or leaving Iranian ports but would not impede ships transiting the strait to and from non-Iranian ports. Iran called the move piracy and warned that no Gulf ports would be safe if its own were threatened.
The UK said it would not support the blockade, with Prime Minister Keir Starmer insisting Britain would not be dragged into the war. France announced it would co-host a conference aimed at a separate multinational mission to reopen the strait.
Oil prices jumped nearly 8 percent Monday, with both Brent and WTI crude topping 100 dollars a barrel. Pakistan is pushing to get the two sides back to the table before the current ceasefire expires next week.
Ranking: States Attracting the Most Tourists.
Just four states attracted 57 percent of all overseas visitors to the US in 2024, according to data from the National Travel and Tourism Office.
New York led with 9.8 million international tourists, followed by Florida (8.9 million), California (7 million), and Nevada (2.6 million).
Las Vegas helped Nevada punch well above its weight compared to far larger states like Texas (2.1 million) and Illinois (1.4 million). Hawaii also stood out, drawing nearly 2 million overseas visitors, more than its entire population of 1.4 million.
Nebraska and Mississippi tied as the second-lowest at just 49,000 visitors each, behind only Delaware at 42,000. Distance from the coasts and limited airport connectivity helped explain the gap.

Iran Talks Collapse, Trump Orders Blockade.
Peace talks between the United States and Iran collapsed on Sunday after more than 21 hours of negotiations in Islamabad, with Vice President JD Vance saying Iran refused to abandon its path to a nuclear weapon.
President Trump responded by announcing a naval blockade of the Strait of Hormuz, ordering the Navy to interdict any vessel that had paid a toll to Iran for passage through the critical waterway.
US Central Command has announced that it will begin a blockade of all Iranian ports on Monday at 10 am Eastern Time. CENTCOM said the blockade would be “enforced impartially against vessels of all nations." But it will allow ships traveling between non-Iranian ports to transit the Strait of Hormuz.
Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps warned that military vessels approaching the strait would be met with force, radioing a US destroyer, "This is the last warning."
Hungary's Orbán Ousted after 16 Years.
Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán conceded defeat on Sunday after 16 years in power, calling the result clear and painful as opposition leader Péter Magyar's Tisza party surged toward a supermajority in parliament.
Magyar, a 45-year-old former Orbán ally who broke with the ruling party two years ago, built a cross-ideological coalition fueled by voter frustration over economic stagnation, corruption, and crumbling public services.
Turnout hit a record 79 percent, the highest in Hungary's post-Communist history, as thousands of Magyar supporters flooded the banks of the Danube in Budapest to celebrate.
The result marks a shift for Hungary's foreign policy, as Orbán had cultivated close ties with Russian President Vladimir Putin and positioned himself as a key ally of President Trump in Europe.
Rory McIlroy's Repeat Masters Victory.
Rory McIlroy won his second straight Masters yesterday at Augusta National, becoming just the fourth golfer in tournament history to go back-to-back. He’s the first since Tiger Woods in 2002.
McIlroy held a six-shot lead through the tournament’s first two days, the largest in Masters history. On Saturday, however, he gave it all back and entered Sunday tied with Cameron Young for the lead.
He regained control on the back nine yesterday, hitting a now-iconic shot on hole 12 to separate him from the pack. He finished at 12-under, one stroke clear of Scottie Scheffler in second place.
It's his sixth career major title. McIlroy joins Jack Nicklaus, Nick Faldo, and Tiger Woods as the only repeat Masters champions.

The reason comes down to the Earth’s curvature. On a flat map, Florida looks closer, but on a globe, Maine juts farther east into the Atlantic.

The Flyover Replay.
Friday, April 10th, 2026.
Good Morning! On this day in 1970, while promoting his upcoming solo album, Paul McCartney announced that he would be leaving the Beatles, the legendary rock band he had been a part of for a decade.

Takeoff.
Israel Agrees to Lebanon Talks Under US Pressure.
sraeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu authorized direct negotiations with Lebanon on Thursday, following US pressure to scale back deadly Israeli strikes in Beirut the previous day.
The move came after calls with President Trump and White House envoy Steve Witkoff, who reportedly urged Netanyahu to reduce the Lebanon offensive to protect the ceasefire between the US and Iran. Talks are expected to begin next week at the State Department in Washington.
Netanyahu maintained that the two-week US - Iran ceasefire does not cover Lebanon. Iran and Hezbollah have warned of retaliation if Israeli strikes there continue.
The negotiations aim to disarm Hezbollah and potentially establish peaceful relations between Israel and Lebanon, two countries technically at war since 1948.
DOJ Opens Antitrust Probe of NFL Media Deals.
The Department of Justice opened an investigation into the NFL over whether the league is using anticompetitive business tactics. Game broadcasts have been scattered across streaming services and networks, forcing fans to spend upwards of 1,000 dollars a year to watch every game.
Under fire is the Sports Broadcasting Act of 1961, which granted the NFL special antitrust protections to negotiate league-wide TV deals. Senator Mike Lee Republican Utah has already requested a formal review of the league's exemption status.
FCC Chairman Brendan Carr went even further, saying the league may be pushing so many games behind paywalls that its antitrust protections are no longer justified.
The NFL defended its model, stating that over 87 percent of its games air on free broadcast television and that games are always available free in competing teams' local markets.
Airlines Hike Fees to Check Luggage.
Delta Air Lines and Southwest Airlines joined United and JetBlue this week in raising checked bag fees by 10 dollars, as carriers seek to offset soaring jet fuel costs linked to escalating tensions in the Middle East.
First checked bags will now cost 45 dollars and second bags 55 dollars on most routes. Delta is also raising third-bag fees by 50 dollars, bringing that total to 200 dollars.
Jet fuel, which averaged about 85 to 90 dollars a barrel in February, has surged since then, driven by disruptions around the Strait of Hormuz, a vital chokepoint for global oil shipments.
Analysts warn that the fee increases are likely permanent. One expert noted that once baggage fees go up, they tend to stay there.

I will repeat the Trivia Question for today: Which two countries have the longest continuous international land border?
And the answer is: The border between Kazakhstan and Russia is the longest continuous international land border. It begins in the west along the Caspian Sea and stretches for 4,750 miles eastward, ending at a tripoint with China. Most of the border runs through the Eurasian Steppe region and the Altai mountain range. There have been very few disputes regarding this border, and it has remained largely unchanged since the time of the Soviet Union. The U.S.-Canada border is longer, but it’s not continuous, interrupted by water.

Iran Shuts Strait of Hormuz Hours After Ceasefire.
Iran closed the Strait of Hormuz again on Wednesday, just hours after a last-minute two-week ceasefire averted President Trump's threat to unleash massive new strikes. Only two ships passed through the Strait before Iran shut it back down.
Tehran accused Israel of violating the deal by launching its largest coordinated strike on Lebanon since the war began. Iran's navy warned vessels attempting to transit the strait would be targeted and destroyed.
The White House called the closure "completely unacceptable" and said Lebanon was never part of the ceasefire.

California lost 12 billion dollars, and New York lost 10 billion dollars in the same period, as high taxes and cost of living continue pushing residents and businesses south.
Secret CIA Tool Found Airman by His Heartbeat.
The CIA revealed it had used a never-before-deployed technology called Ghost Murmur over the weekend to locate a downed American F-15 weapons system officer hiding in an Iranian mountain crevice, detecting his heartbeat from 40 miles away.
The system picks up the faint electromagnetic signal a beating heart emits, something normally detectable only with medical equipment pressed directly against the chest. It then uses artificial intelligence to filter out background noise and zero in on a single person.
Ghost Murmur was built by Skunk Works, the classified advanced development division inside defense giant Lockheed Martin that has produced some of the most groundbreaking military technology in American history, including the U-2 spy plane, the SR-71 Blackbird, and the F-117 stealth fighter.
SEAL Team 6 and hundreds of special operations troops then carried out one of the most complex rescue missions in US military history to bring the airman home. Every American made it out alive.

Trump Pauses Iran Strike Deadline.
President Trump said Tuesday he would delay planned military escalation against Iran for two weeks, less than 90 minutes before his 8 pm eastern time deadline, if Tehran agrees to reopen the Strait of Hormuz.
Trump said the pause followed talks with Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and army chief Asim Munir, and described the proposal as a “double-sided ceasefire” tied to a broader peace framework.
The announcement came after a day of sharp escalation, including Trump’s earlier threat that “a whole civilization” could die if Iran did not make a deal, along with reports of fresh U.S. strikes on Iran’s oil hub at Kharg Island and Israeli attacks on bridges and rail lines.
Iran’s Supreme National Security Council later said it had accepted a two-week ceasefire, and Trump said Tehran had proposed a “workable” 10-point peace plan.
Medicare Advantage Funding Jumps 2.48 percent.
The Trump administration finalized a 2.48 percent payment increase for Medicare Advantage plans in 2027, a significantly higher increase than originally proposed, totaling more than 13 billion dollars in additional federal funding for private insurers.
The rate is a reversal from the 0.09 percent increase proposed in January, which had threatened to force insurers to slash benefits or hike premiums for the 35 million seniors enrolled in the plans.
Shares of major insurers soared in after-hours trading, with Humana jumping roughly 12 percent while UnitedHealth rose more than 9 percent.
The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services Administrator Doctor Mehmet Oz said the update ensures coverage remains affordable and that patients "get real value" from their plans as medical and insurance costs continue to rise.
Artemis 2 Sends Photos from the Dark Side.
The Artemis 2 crew completed a historic flyby of the moon Monday, becoming the first humans to circle it in more than 50 years, and now heads back to Earth for a splashdown Friday evening.
As the spacecraft passed behind the moon, the astronauts lost contact with Earth for about 40 minutes, flying in complete radio silence on the far side before signals were restored.
The crew captured a stunning “Earthset” image as Earth slipped below the lunar horizon and witnessed a nearly hour-long solar eclipse from deep space.
In a tearful moment, the astronauts named an unnamed crater after Commander Reid Wiseman’s late wife, Carroll, who died of cancer in 2020, calling it a “bright spot” visible from Earth.
Early photos reveal the 600-mile-wide Orientale basin, ancient lava flows, and craters never before seen by human eyes.

I will repeat the Trivia Question for today: What are you suffering from if you’re hit by an attack of sphenopalatine ganglioneuralgia?
And the answer is: You’ve got brain freeze. The abrupt cooling of the roof of your mouth triggers a brain freeze, also called an ice cream headache (or sphenopalatine ganglioneuralgia, if you’re a scientist). The onslaught of cold causes nearby blood vessels to constrict and then expand, and that fluctuation is interpreted by the brain as a mind-numbing pain.
